GENEROUS TYCOON silenced
the 'big guns' to capture the RM500,000 Perak Derby over 2400m here today,
but not before a do-or-die battle with FIGHTER JET.
GENEROUS TYCOON had a win in
his debut season in 2007 but after going through 2008 without success, the
New Zealand gelding was transferred to trainer Johnny Lim.
Under his new trainer
GENEROUS TYCOON (Generous - Assizes by Kenmare) picked up four wins last
year but a setback in training put his career on hold for six months after
his last success in October last year.
GENEROUS TYCOON resumed
with a first-up second over 1600m a fortnight ago which set him up nicely
for today's stamina test when he just prevailed over FIGHTER JET (Jetball -
Watermead by Charnwood Forest) who has some good form of late.
Former Singapore galloper
TOP SPIN, the 2008 Singapore Derby and Kranji Mile winner, came home third.
The two big favourites,
last season Perak Derby winner GOOD NATURE and PROFESSIONAL MAN, failed to
shine.
