Jockey Wan suspended two months

Jockey Wan Teck Moon has been suspended two months from January 30 after returning a positive urine test for prohibited substance.

Wan’s urine sample was taken during the second weekend of the Perak Turf Club January meeting on January 9 and it indicated the presence of “Furosemide.”

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matter today at the Penang Turf Club. Evidence was taken from Wan, Prof Dr Tan Soo Choon, the chief analyst, Usains Holding Sdn Bhd, and Dr Parmjit Singh.

After considering all the evidence, Wan was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) and the particulars of the charge were that a urine sample coded “J-2559” submitted by him on January 9 at the Perak Turf Club January Meeting 2010, on analysis, revealed the presence of “Furosemide”, which is a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.

Jockey TM Wan was suspended for a period of two months with immediate effect from Jan 30 and to expire on March 29, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.
