Woodworth lands first win of season

PENANG,  23 Jan 2010

After four fruitless days, champion jockey Benny Woodworth finally land his first winner of the new season when he guided GOLD LION to victory in the open event here today.

Woodworth, who won the MRA championship when still an apprentice in 1995, captured his first title since when he chalked up 50 wins in Malaysia last year.

Four-time winner GOLD LION (Aucash - Marite by Papal Power) has not tasted success since January last year.

Meanwhile, W K Yan, who is the surprise early season leader in the jockey's table, continued his good form when he partnered SEE ME FLY (Electronic Zone - Bacarole by Bakharoff) to a runaway win in a Class 5 - 1200m. It was his fifth win of the season.
