AMAZING SURPRISE, whose
rider was disqualified two years for his handling of the gelding last week,
vindicated the action taken by the stewards when he trashed his rivals in
the Maiden - 1400m sprint at Sungei Besi here today.
Ridden by Suhairi
Sani who replaced the disqualified Marzuki Sani who was charged and
disqualified yesterday, the four-year-old outclasses his rivals to win by
eight lengths.
It was the first success in
12 starts for AMAZING SURPRISE (King Cugat - Amistosa by Encosta De Lago)
who had cost just A$1,500 as a yearling. The gelding returned to racing last
month after being sidelined for nine months.
Home based trainers
dominated the afternoon's proceedings winning seven of nine races on the
card. Leading the charge was Mohd Sukri who saddled three winners: APACHE
EAGLE (Markane - Once Upon A Time by St Jude), BANKS' GIFT (Over - Golf
Circuit by Groucho) and GRADUATE BOY (Ron Bon - Arak Attack by Protos).
