Azrull disqualified one year

SINGAPORE:  Jan 28, 2011

Mohamad Azrull has been disqualified one year after an inquiry into alleged incidents during the period from December 2004 to March 2005 when he was an apprentice jockey with the Malayan Racing Association which led to him being charged in the District Court here in Singapore.

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into alleged incidents yesterday.

Azrull pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 133(1)(b)(ii) in that he, as a licensed Apprentice Jockey with the Malayan Racing Association, between December 2004 and March 2005, did on various occasions corruptly accept monies in return for stable information about horses, which was not publicly available and was without the authorisation of the owner or owner’s representative.

When considering penalty, the Stewards took into account the nature of the charge, his record and guilty plea. Azrull was disqualified for a period of one year with effect from Dec 13, 2010 to Dec 12, 2011 both dates inclusive and was advised of his right of appeal.
