GOOD BABY atoned for his dismal showing last start to defeat the Singapore raider IRISH COFFEE in a thrilling finish to the RM1mil Malaysia Magic Millions Classic over 1200m here today.

The Australian four-year-old, sold for A$110,000 as a weanling but passed in at A$130,000 as a yearling, had earlier chalked up four wins and three placings from nine starts.

Ridden by Azhar Ismail, GOOD BABY came from just off the pace to win by half-a-length after IRISH COFFEE had taken over the lead from early pacemaker COLIN THE FIRTH.

It's the second consecutive season Golden Knight Stable, Azhar and trainer Kevin Coetzee won the Magic Millions Classic. They did it last year with HOT BUTTERFLY and Cozetee also won the event with TIME SPEED in 2008.
