ARANDA completed a
hat-trick in the Class 3 - 1200m sprint here today, giving jockey Henry
Barnabas his first winner for more than two and a half years.
Former Singapore galloper
ARANDA (Bel Esprit - Orchid Lady - Centro) won three races in 20 outings at
Kranji but after some disappointing runs in the middle of last season, he
was transferred to Kevin Coetzee in Ipoh.
After an unplaced debut in
Malaysia last April, the five-year-old has gone on to win three consecutive
races with three different jockeys astride.
Barnabas booted home seven winners in 2008 but
after failing to land a winner in 40 rides the following year, he was
disqualified one year for his ride on MASTER JIANGMEN in Penang on May 10.
Barnabas only return to riding two weeks ago,
after 25 months out of the saddle. His ride on ARANDA was only his fifth in
his comeback.
So overjoyed Barnabas at the success that he
made celebratory gesture prior to the finish and was subsequently fined
RM1,000.
