BETTER BE THE ONE gets the job
done in the Saas Fee Stakes

BETTER BE THE ONE (More
Than Ready - Common Smytzer by Snippets) passed his first test beyond 1200m
when he came from just off the pace to win the S$200,000 Saas Fee Stakes
over 1400m at Kranji here today.
Despite having won four
times from nine Singapore starts and coming off an impressive win in the
Group 3 Garden City Trophy (1200m) last time out, the five-year-old was the
only the fourth-elect in the tote in the Group 3 condition weights event.
Former top Malaysian
sprinter CAPTAIN OBVIOUS as usual set the pace with APACHE CROWN and the
favourite ATO in pursuit. But BETTER BE THE ONE wore them down in the home
stretch to win by three parts of a length from APACHE CROWN.
BETTER BE THE ONE won five
of 13 starts when racing as COMMON INTEREST in Australia. He also had a tilt
at the Group 2 Al Quoz Sprint on Dubai World Cup night last March and was narrowly beaten (head and
head) behind JJ THE JET PLANE.
A return to Dubai is on the
card for the Michael Freedman-trained gekding.
