CAPTAIN OBVIOUS, champion
sprinter in Malaysia and now winner of two of his five starts in Singapore,
is Dubai bound after his runaway win in the Kranji Stakes A - 1400m sprint
at Kranji here tonight.
The Australian gelding won
10 of 14 starts in Malaysia and left for Singapore after his course
record-breaking win in the Tunku Gold Cup last February.
In his second outing in
Singapore, CAPTAIN OBVIOUS (Verglas - Shathor by Tirol) captured the Jumbo
Jet Trophy (1400m) in September. He then found the 1600m of the Kranji Mile
beyond him and was fourth to BETTER BE THE ONE in the Saas Fee Stakes last
time out.
Trainer Steven Burridge
made a bold move to engage apprentice
Koh Teck Huat with a view to
take 3kg off his alloted topweight of 49.5kg, and the decision paid off as
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS made all the running to win by two and three quarters
lengths.
Burridge said after the win
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS is entered for Hong Kong but believed Dubai is a better
option for the six-year-old who will now be given a rest before coming back
in the new year.
