Champion trainer Kevin
Coztee was on fire at his home base here today when he won half the card of
10 races which was staged on a soft track after heavy morning rain.
It was easily his best
afternoon of the year, and he now trails Richard Lines by just three winners
at the top of the table with 11 days of the season left. Lines leads with 58
winners.
Stable apprentice B N Kumar
gave his master the perfect start, winning the first two races on HONEST MAN
(Occidental Touriist - Zarnitsa by Maroof) and SHADOW WIND (Black
Minnaloushe - Madamax by Stylish Century), with both horses returning to the
winner's circle after a lapse of 11 months.
ARANDA, a three-time winner
in Singapore, chalked up his fourth win of the season in Malaysia to give
Coetzee an early hat-trick.
Later in the day, Coetzee
had back-to-back wins with TIME SPEED (Second Empire - Lilliegold by Twenty
Four Karat) and PEOPLE'S CHOICE (Johannesburg - La Bella Dame by Royal
Academy). It was the
ninth win in 32 starts for TIME SPEED for his first since April last year.
PEOPLE'S CHOICE had to survive an objection by the rider of the
second-placed MY DIAMOND.
