Brazilian jockey Emerson Da
Cruz (EG Cruz) had his best ever day in Malaysia since he began riding in
the country last year when he booted home four winners at Sungei Besi here
today.
His quadruple include the
main feature of the afternoon, the RM200,000 Dewar's 12 Double Aged Sprint
for three-year-olds over 1200m on HAPPY THOUGHTS (Greenwood Lake - Hip Hop
Anonymous).
The Dr Tan Swee
Hock-trained gelding, with two wins from his initial five starts, proved a
shade too good for GOOD BABY after a thrilling tussle to win by a head. The
pair finished five lengths ahead of the rest of the field.
Dr Tan had brought HAPPY
THOUGHTS for just A$24,000 at the Horses In Training Sale and the gelding
has now picked up RM180,000 in prizemoney.
Cruz, the best performing
visiting jockey thus far this season, struck early in the afternoon on
PAYBACK TIME (Jeune - Burning Landscape by Scenic). It was the first win for
the gelding since December 2009.
Cruz ended the afternoon
with back-to-back wins on BIG RED (Red Ransom - Farasha by Jeune) and MATTS
FUHRER (Pins - Mercury Island by O'Reilly) to bring his tally for the season
to 18 and moves to fourth in the table.
