Escamonda WINS Back-to-back
feature

ESCAMONDA, who won the
final feature race of the 2010 season, the Group 3 Pronin Construct Stakes
on the polytrack early last month, has begun the season where he left off.
Partnered again by Robbie
Fradd, ESCAMONDA (Alpha Plus - Wise Girl by Gold Trojan) easily defeated the
more fancied stablemate JAMAL MALIK by 2 1/2 lengths in the S$200,000 New
Year Cup over 1900m on the polytrack.
It was the third win in 16
starts at Kranji for the five-year-old who won six races, including a Group
1, in his native Argentina before arriving in Singapore.
Besides kicking off the new
season with the Group 3 feature, the Singapore Turf Club also honoured last
season's champions with a race named after them each.
They were the Jupiter
Stable Handicap (owner), Steven Burridge Handicap (trainer), Joao Moreira
Handicap (jockey) and Mark Ewe Stakes (apprentice).
