Gingerbread Man wins thriller

This year's top three-year-old GINGERBREAD MAN and seasoned campaigner galloper CAPABLANCA treated racegoers to a thrilling finish in the Open Handicap over 1200m at Kranji here today.

Winner of all three legs of the three-year-old series earlier in the season, GINGERBREAD MAN (Shamardal - Quaffle by Hurricane Sky) bounced back after his defeat at the hands of ALWAYS CERTAIN in the Chairman's Trophy in July and a first-up fourth two weeks ago to win by a short head.

CAPABLANCA counted the 2008 Lion City Cup among his 12 wins but the 10-year-old he can still be a top draw, having won as recently as June.

Meanwhile, a trip to Dubai could be on the card for GINGERBREAD MAN who has now won 10 times in 15 starts.
