Newly licenced trainer
Katherine Hughes saddled her first winner when KIRI KANAN (Al Maher -
Kuthbaan by Secret Savings) scored a runaway win in a Class 4 - 1400m sprint
here today.
The four-year-old entire,
who led throughout to win by six and three-quarter lengths, also provided
rookie apprentice Thanggarajaneesh Munusamy (M Ganeesh) with his maiden win.
KIRI KANAN has had a
troubled start to his career. He raced thrice at the tail-end of 2009 and
early last year, finishing down the field each time.
After 12 months on the
sidelines, he resumed racing last month with an encouraging sixth after
being transferred to Hughes. He was the sixth runner for Hughes since the
Aussie saddled her first runner early last month.
Another apprentice, Cheng Han Kok also reached
a milestone in his career when he booted home SMILING MELANG (Dexter - Sweet
Mouza by Bao Lack). It was his 40th winner and he would only be entitled to
claim 2kg from tomorrow.
