Favourites wiped out on heavy track

Favourites failed to win a single race on a rain-soaked track here today, although two of them —  WHITE PILLOW and RAMZ —  came close, both beaten by a neck.

Visiting Mauritian jockey Gulshan Rye Joorawon registered his second win in Malaysia when he partnered REAL IMPACT (Strategic Image - Moss Arising by He Is Risen) to an upset win a Class 5 - 1200m sprint. REAL IMPACT paid RM176 for a win.

It was the second win in 32 starts for the six-year-old whose only previous win came in December 2009.

Benny Woodworth, who won the 2007 jockey's title in Mauritius, was the only double winner today, booting home MAGIC MELANG (Don Eduardo - Miss Jimeale by Khairpour) and BE SURE (Blackfriars - Eco Trekker by Vettori).
