WAIKATO to record his 10th

KEEP AWAY took advantage of
a light impost to slay some big names in the Open handicap event over 1600m
at Kranji here tonight.
After picking up just one
win last year, the Japanese gelding returned to winning form last month in
Kranji Stakes A - 1600m event. He was unplaced over 1800m last Sunday but
five days later turned in a vastly improved performance tonight.
Ridden by M Zaki, KEEP AWAY
(Air Jihad - Laurel Alice by BiwaHayahide) ran down the pacemaker, topweight
WAIKATO to win by one length to pay $104 for a win. It was his 10th success
in 38 starts.
"I
entered him because he’s been working well and needed to run. There wasn’t
any more handicap race on grass like this one next month. It was his last
chance, so I took a chance and it’s paid off," said trainer Hideyuki
Takaoka.
