It's two wins in two starts
for AL'S KNIGHT (Fastnet Rock - Wisp by Last Tango) in the Class 4, Div 2 -
1200m sprint at Kranji here tonight, and gave trainer Don Baertschiger a
perfect 61st birthday present.
Partnered by John Powell,
the three-year-old was installed odds-on after his impressive debut three
week ago. And the gelding did not let his backers
down, although he was hard-pressed by outsider GUSTORIKO before prevailing
by a short head. MINAH CURRENT was another head away third in a three-way
photo.
AL'S KNIGHT was purchased
by Baertschiger for A$220,000 at the Horses In Training Sale and is will on
his way to repay his purchase price
"It’s
never easy to go from an Initiation to a Class 4 in two starts and win both
of them, but he showed a lot of fight tonight and might go on with it,"
said Baertschiger of AL'S KNIGHT who was in Singapore for 14 months before
making his debut after going amiss twice. "He
firstly injured a sesamoid then later on hurt a shoulder."
