Brazilian jockey Manoel Marques has been disqualified one year for his handling of GLORY BETTING in a Class 5 - 1700m handicap here on July 2.

GLORY BETTING (One Cool Cat - Hairini by Zabeel), trained by Tiang Kim Choi, came from last early to finish eighth to WU JIN.

The Stewards today concluded the inquiry into the running and handling of GLORY BETTING. Miss Marisa Rechenberg acted as interpreter for Jockey Marques.

After taking further evidence from Marques and trainer Tiang, the Stewards find jockey Marques guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(8)(a).

The particulars of the charge were:

1) After jumping away with the field, he then failed to make an attempt to ride GLORY BETTING in a mid-field position as per his riding instructions;

2) That near the 300m, when a run presented itself between STEADY and MIGHTY MIDGET, he failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination when his mount was running on strongly;
