EXCAVATOR goes to the line on a tight hold in his debut - SNTC photo

Two horses who had cost very little at the sales won their debut in contrasting styles at Kranji here today.

EXCAVATOR (Happy Giggle - Honey Bouquet by Last Tycoon), ridden by apprentice Joseph See, romped to a 5 1/4-length win in the Restricted Maiden - 1000m sprint on the polytrack. The gelding cost just A$10,000 at the Magic Millions Adelaide sales.

ITISWHATITIS (Danzero - Lady Of The Valley by Bigstone), ridden by Danny Beasley, had to big deep to prevail by a head in the Initiation - 1100m sprint also on the polytrack. The gelding went under the hammer for $20,000 at the Inglis sale in Melbourne.
