Ever since a change of name
two months ago, LIGHTNING MAC (Whywhywhy - Gulley by Gulch) has been on a
roll.
Ridden by apprentice Tan
Wei Li, the six-year-old came from last in the 12-horse field to snatch
victory in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1200m sprint on the polytrack, completing a
hat-trick which started with the name change from INCREDIBLE SON.
The American gelding made
his debut in October 2008 and managed just one win in 31 starts before his
owner decided to seek a change of fortune with a new name which has worked
wonders.
In his last start,
LIGHTNING MAC provided Tan with his first career win and the winning
partnership continued today. Despite the horse's recent form, he was allowed
to start at a generous odds, returning $88 for a win.
The gelding's success also
completed a superb afternoon for trainer Mok Zhan Lun who achieved his first
career treble.
Earlier in the afternoon,
Mok was successful with newcomer ROYAL STYLE (Saxon - True M'Lady by Is It
True) and polytrack specialist TROPICAL FOREST (Enforcer - De Grey by Paris
House) who recorded his fourth success on the surface.
