Fresh from registering his
first treble of the season last Sunday, champion jockey Joao Moreira has
gone one better at Kranji tonight. But Vlad Duric, who has led the table
from start of the season, maintains his advantage with a double of his own.
Moreira's quadruple
included the mini feature, the S$150,000 Woodlands Classic Stakes over 2000m
on MARTIAL ART (Tiger Hill - Kwan by Sadler's Wells) who won by a head after
a thrilling tussle with CLINT.
MARTIAL ART, winner of two
races from eight starts in New Zealand, has been consistent in his Singapore
campaign thus far, winning once and had three placings from his first six
outings.
Moreira got off to a fine
start to the evening when he scored on DISTINCT NICHE (Dehere - Soft
Spoken by Flying Spur). This was followed by wins on NORTHERN LION (Ishiguru
- Capebay by Kaapstad), MARTIAL ART and BOMBABY SLING (Danzero - Gin Sling
by Western Symphony).
Duric partnered BIG GALLANT
(Savabeel - Laa Tansaa by Danehill) to a second consecutive win before
scoring on newcomer CAN BE BETTER (Foreplay - Silaque by Sir Laurence). The
double brings his tally to 11 for the season.
