Joao Moreira re-wrote his
own record of 116 winners set last year when he booted home four winner at
Kranji tonight.
Going into this evening's
meeting on 114 wins, the Brazilian started the proceedings with a 'bang',
winning the opening event on SUN ENTERPRISE (Commands - Nostalgic by Quest
For Fame) who showed up for the first time in seven starts to register his
maiden win.
BULL SHOT (Falvelon - La
Faberge by Success Express), who recorded his maiden win last November,
returned to the winner's circle with an all-the-way victory in the Class 5,
Div 2 - 1200m sprint on the polytrack, giving Moreira an armchair ride.
Moreira, who found to beat
when he partnered MARTIAL ART (Tiger Hill - Kwan by Sadler's Wells) the last
two starts, made no mistake this time as the gelding coasted to an easy win
in the Open - 2200m handicap, his fourth in 20 outings.
That was Moreira's 117th
win of the season, but that the champion jockey was not finished yet. He
capped another great evening with WHAT NOW.
With Moreira back in the
saddle, WHAT NOW (State City - Classic Look by Grosvenor) romped to another
runaway win in the Class 3 - 1400m sprint. The four-year-old has now three
wins and four placings seven starts.
With three more months of
the season to go, Moreira could easily hit the 150 mark at the form he is
in.
