Apprentice Muhd Mutaza was
the toast of Sungei Besi today, in this special one-day novelty meeting for
home based horses.
Mutaza picked up a
career-first quadruple, with three of his winners provided by his master
Barry Brogan, who himself also went home with four winners from a card of 11
races.
Mutaza began the day on a
winning note, winning on the Aditiyan Selvaratnam-trained DESTINY QUEST
(Proud Citizen - Sunset Service by Deputy Minister).
The American bred cost
US$60,000 as a yearling and was later sold at the Tattersalls Breeze Up Sale
as a 2YO for 150,000 euros.
But after a third from two
starts in England and two unplaced runs in the UAE, he landed in Malaysia
and today's run was his 12th outing in the country.
Mutaza's other three
winners were BRISBANE (Made Of Gold - Sweet Lady Bird by Navajo Bird),
TEQUILA SUNRISE (Taimazov - Starry Starry Nite by Ascot Knight) and RUSH
HOUR (Manner Hill - Amber Lunch by Lunchtime), all trained by Brogan.
Brogan's other winner was
YOU NEVER KNOW (Reset - Rippa Royale by Grand Lodge).
