GOOD NATURE (Way Of Light -
Tears We Cry by French Deputy), who won the Selangor Gold Cup last April, is
back in form after suffering a setback last year.
Ridden by apprentice Jacky
Lim, the six-year-old accounted for the useful STEALTH in the RM95,000
Wilayah Silver Bowl (1600m) at Sungei Besi here today, winning by
three-quarters of a length. His more fancied stablemate FLYING CAT finished
third.
GOOD NATURE, who also won
the Perak Derby and Piala Emas Sultan Selangor in 2009, suffered a cut in
his near-fore in the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor last June and was spelled
for several months.
He had two unplaced runs on
returning to racing after the tailend of last season but surprised punters
with a quick return to form today. And what a win it was, covering the
distance in a time of 1min 35.06secs, just 0.66 second off the (long) course record set
by Concert Master II was back in 1995.
However, a new course record was written over
the 1400m short course when GOOD SIGHT (Lonhro - Bonne Famille by Anabaa)
chalked up his second win in seven starts in the Class 3 - 1400m sprint.
The four-year-old, who had been placed in three out
four outings in Australia before coming to Malaysia, cover the distance in
1min 21.43, bettering the previous record OF 1min 22.14 set by SANJUAN last
year.
