GOLDEN PARTNER bounced back
after five dismal outings to register a shock victory in the final event in
Penang today.
The New Zealand gelding had
scored a popular win on the opening day of the season this year, but poor
recent form saw him start today's Class 4 - 1200m sprint at RM537.
Ridden by Harmeet Singh
Gill for the first time, GOLDEN PARTNER (San Luis - Si Signorina by Senor
Pete) easily ran down the front runner in the home stretch to win by two and
three-quarter lengths.
It was the third win in 21
starts for the five-year-old who cost just NZ$8,000 as a yearling.
Oscar Chavez had his best
day in Malaysia for a while when he booted home a double on POUND (Royal
Academy - Lackadaisical by Star Pyramul) and PERFECT PERFORMER (Beckett -
Machino by Zabeel).
