Written off even before he
had his first start in Singapore, PHOEBUS showed his true worth when he
easily won
a Class 4 - 1200m sprint for home based horses in a special one-day novelty
meeting where today.
Bought for A$80,000 as a
yearling, the Australian gelding landed in Singapore in October 2009 and was
a trial winner at Kranji but never made it to the races.
Sent over to trainer Evert
van Breukelen, PHOEBUS (Danehill Dancer - Enlightenment by Capote) won a
trial two months ago but finished down the field in his debut later in the
month.
However, PHOEBUS, ridden by
Eirwan Khalid, quickly put behind that disappointing showing to win by three
and three quarter lengths today.
Although the race was confined to Ipoh based horses, it showed that there is
potential in the four-year-old after all.
