PROFESSIONAL MAN storms home on the outside to snatch
victory in the Prestige Residences Cup

PROFESSIONAL MAN bounced back to form after more than 12 months to snatch victory in the RM250,000 Prestige Residences Cup (Table 1 - 1700m) here today when the track was officially re-opened for racing.

Ridden by Azhar Ismail, PROFESSIONAL MAN (Royal Academy - Mi Signora by Mi Preferido) came with a late burst to beat the front-running FREE SPIRIT by three-quarter of a length to record his ninth win in 23 starts.

Winner of the Yang Di Pertua Negeri Gold Cup (2200m) here in 2008, the Kevin Coetzee trained gelding was able to come from a long way back in the running to gun down his rivals, thanks largely to the chamber on the turn and the evenly laid track.

The Penang main track was closed for nine months to enable a completely new track to be laid and racing resumed only yesterday.
