Rapido Boy too speedy for his rivals

RAPIDO STAR scored an superb win in near record time in the Benchmark 83 sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here today, helping leading jockey Joao Moreira to a yet another superb hat-trick.

RAPIDO STAR (Safe In The USA - Yen by Lure), began his career in impressive winner by scoring a hat-trick, including two runaway wins.

He failed to measure up in the Group 2 Three-Year-Old Classic in April but made amends some what with a second in Progress company last time out.

RAPIDO STAR was back to top gear today when he cleared away from his rivals in the run home to win by five and three-quarter lengths in 58.14 seconds, just 0.07 second outside the course record held by BIONIC BOY.

"He showed today that he has the makings of being a very good horse," said Moreira, who left it late to win the last three races today, after chalking up a feature race double on Friday evening.

American colt RAPIDO STAR is out of a mare who won six races in her native New Zealand.
