Singapore sprint champion
heads to Dubai in the best possible form after a runaway win in the RDA Cup
(Kranji Stakes A) over 1200m on the polytrack at Kranji here today.
It was the first start for
the five-year-old since his narrow defeat to JJ THE JETPLANE in the Group 1
Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint last December.
Ridden by Barend Vorster,
ROCKET MAN (Viscount - Macrosa by Mr McGinty) settled in second after a
slightly slow start, but shot to the front at the home bend to win as he
liked by five and three-quarter lengths in a time of 1min. 10.70secs.
ROCKET MAN has now won 12
times in 13 starts against the locals in Singapore but has been luckless in
international Group 1 events thus far.
Last year, ROCKET MAN went
down second by half-a-length to KINSALE KING in the Dubai Golden Shaheen and
on his home track, was beaten a neck by Hong Kong's GREEN BIRDIE in the
KrisFlyer International Sprint.
His maiden international
success, however, came in the Group 2 Jockey Club Sprint when he dead-heated
with ONE WORLD in his tune-up for the Hong Kong Sprint.
