A recent switch to riding
in Singapore has paid dividend for Malaysian jockey Samsir Hamid after he
piloted WIN LOTS (Danetime - Ciana Bell by Balmerino) to victory in the
Class 5 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack this evening.
It was his first success at
Kranji although he had found success as an apprentice when racing was held
at the now defunct Bukit Timah racecourse.
"Things
were not going so well back home and I thought I’d give Singapore a try,"
said Samsir who found a job as a track rider for Theo Kieser and it was
perhaps appropriate that his first winner at Kranji should be provided by
the South African trainer.
WIN
LOTS, a winner two starts back, paid $99 for a win but there were bigger
upsets later in the evening.
LIRA
(Flying Spur - Emerald Shoes by Kala Dancer) paid $362 for a win in the
Class 4, Div 2 - 1100m sprint.
ARADEA
(Johannesburg - Bella Corona by Beautiful Crown) had to share honours with
the favourite PRIMERA ESPADA (Stromberg Carlson - Aback by Marauding) in the
Class 3 - 1000m sprint but still paid $178 for a win.
DON'TCALLME UNCLE (Stromberg Carlson - Saljen by Salieri) returned to form
after more than a year to pay $200 in winning the Class 4, Div 1 - 1100m
handicap.
