Shafiq Rusof, who has long
ago wrapped up his first apprentice jockey's title this season, capped a
superb season when he steered ZAC INFLUENCE to victory in the Group 3
S$175,000 Pronin Construct Stakes over 1700m on the polytrack at Kranji
tonight.
It was the lad's first ride
on the Australian entire who showed a lot of promise earlier in the year
when second to GINGERBREAD MAN in the Group 2 Singapore Three-Year-Old
Classic.
But after an unplaced run
in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas in May, ZAC INFLUENCE (Rock Of Gibraltar -
Kidman by Quest For Fame) was spelled for five months. His outing tonight
was his third on resuming and a step up in distance from his previous two
runs.
"It’s
been a great year for me," said Shafiq who was indentured to Mark Walker in
New Zealand and is again under the Kiwi's wings in Singapore. "It’s great to
finally win my first Group race. It’s a moment I will always remember."
