VERY STYLO, who has
hitherto finished down the field in nine starts, sprang a spectacular upset
in the Class 5 - 1400m sprint here today.
With the track rendered
'soft' after a heavy downpour at the start of the races today, VERY STYLO
(Bearcat - Academy Royale by Royal Academy) revelled in the wet going to win
by a head.
The three-year-old paid
RM1,371 for a win, the biggest payout since the unit bet on the win and
place tote was changed from RM5 to RM10 in March this year.
Visiting jockeys Martin
Wepner and Emerson Da Cruz, who could not ride last week because their
permits were not in order, seized their chances today to land a winner each.
Wepner was successful on
the Malaysian-bred CHINO DIABLO (Dolphin Street - August Lass by Al
Khawaaneeg) who broke the duck in his eighth start.
Da Cruz's winner PACIFIC
GIFT (Untouchable - Samoa by Hula Chief) returned to form after nine months
to record his second win in 22 starts.
