Spectacular upset by newcomer Thisisit

SINGAPORE:  Nov 25, 2011

Three-year-old newcomer THISISIT (Churchill Downs - Last Minute by Encosta De Lago) scored a spectacular upset victory in his debut in the Initiation, Div 1 sprint over 1200m at Kranji here tonight.

Ridden by apprentice Oon Yik Yan, the Australian gelding settled nicely in third spot before taking the lead in the home stretch to win by one and three-quarter lengths.

The rank outsider in the 10-horse field, THISISIT paid a thumping $494 for a win.

The gelding was originally purchased by Dr Yeoh Kheng Chye for A$150,000 at the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale last year and is now trained by Cliff Brown.

THISISIT is the first progeny of the Australian Group 2 winner CHURCHILL DOWNS to race in Singapore. The DANEHILL stallion was also third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper and Ascot Vale Stakes.
