Newcomer Tops in Malaysian

TOPS A WIN, winner of two
races from seven starts in Australia, quickly proved his worth in Malaysia
with a hard-fought victory in his debut in the Class 3 - 1200m sprint at
Sungei Besi here today.
Partnered by Jackson Low,
the five-year-old just got the better of last-start winner KIM BAY in a
photo-finish to give trainer Aditiyan Selvaratnam his first winner of the
season. Selvaratnam is one of three trainers whose licence was renewed for
only six months till June 30.
Sungei Besi based trainers
again dominated the proceedings, winning nine of the ten races on the card.
P S Kumaran also got off
the mark for the season with CHASE THE DREAM (Danbird - Laudine by
Grosvenor) who notched his fourth win in 22 starts.
