BLUE TOSCA completed a big
race double in the space of 15 days when he triumphed in the RM400,000
Sultan Gold Vase here today.
Whereas he had to share
honours when he dead-heated with EAGLE in the Sprint Trophy (1400m) in
Penang on July 10, the Australian five-year-old finished half a length ahead
of BINTANG TERANG this time.
The running of the 1100m
sprint over the straight course, traditionally held in November together
with the Coronation Cup, was brought forward to mid-year this season so as
to have a better spread of the big races in Malaysia.
It worked perfectly well
for BLUE TOSCA who has shown tremendous improvement in the past couple of
months. He was bought by trainer Stephen Cook for just A$20,000 at the
Ready To Run sale and has now earned more than RM770,000 from eight wins in
23 starts.
