Dream start for new trainer Wee

Newly-licenced trainer Wee Meng Hua had a dream start to his career when his very first runner YOURS TRULY (Kashani - Regal Rita by Ron's Victory) duly won a Class 3 - 1100m sprint here today.

The New Zealand gelding had won thrice in 15 starts when under the care of Mohd Sukri, including two from four runs earlier this year.

Despite racing after a seven-month break today, YOURS TRULY was quick into stride and set a brisk pace. Although he was tiring in the closing stages, he held on to win by half a length.

Sarawak-born Wee, 51, began his career in racing as syce in 1985, gradually worked his up to become a stable supervisor in 2005 and assistant trainer three years later.

He was granted his A licence last month and is based in Kuala Lumpur.
