ALACARTE (Umatilla - Enchre
by Final Card) dished out his finest win to date when he captured the
RM75,000 Datuk Lee Chong Wei Trophy at Sungei Besi here today.
The Selangor Turf Club
named the Class 3 - 1800m handicap in honour of the Malaysian badminton star
who recently won his second Olympic silver medal in London.
ALACARTE, who chalked up
five wins from 1200m to 1600m in Singapore, got his campaign in Malaysia off
to a flying start when he scored back-to-back wins over 1600m earlier in the
season.
After being placed twice in
his next four starts, the Australian gelding bounced back to winning form by beating three last-start winners
today, to register his first win beyond
1600m.
Jackson Low, who rode
ALACARTE, went on to complete a treble with WELL BEYOND (Zerpour - Indigo
Moon by Pentire) and BERNANKE (Elusive Quality - Monetary by Diesis) and
home based trainers made a clean sweep of the 10 events.
