Alien lands surprise win in 3YO heat

PENANG:  May 6, 2012

ALIEN, who finished dead last in his debut last month, showed remarkable improvement to cause a big surprise in the second heat of the Malaysia 3YO Championship over 1200m here today.

Ridden by Salee Saad, ALIEN (Elusive Quality - Belle Amici by Catbird) came from a distant second last early to sweep round the field, taking the run wide out to win drawing away by two and a quarter lengths ahead of JOYFUL who had already two wins under his belt.

ALIEN's more fancied stablemate WELL NATURE finished third. Being the rank outsider, ALIEN paid RM540 for a win.

In the earlier heat over 1100m, odds-on favourite COLIN THE FIRTH (All Bar One - Orchis by Octagonal), who has won three of five previous starts, duly obliged, winning by five and a half lengths.
