Happy Amigo finds the groove in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR:  Aug 4, 2012

Unplaced in three starts in Australia, HAPPY AMIGO (Falvelon - Miss Lehaar by Biscay Wonder) found his happy hunting in Malaysia when he easily won his debut in the Maiden - 1200m handicap at Sungei Besi here today.

Ridden by Calvin Goon, the Australian gelding easily accounted for eight rivals to win by two and a half lengths.

HAPPY AMIGO was purchased by Joe Giovanni for A$24,000 at the Horses In Training Sale and is now co-owned by his trainer Richard Lines who won the title for the first time last year and continued to set the pace this season. A treble today brought his tally to 43.

Penang based Jerome Tan prevented a clean sweep by the home based trainers when he saddled TOTORSA (Millennium Wind - Ages 'n Stages) to win the Class 3 - 1800m handicap. It was the gelding's fifth win but his first under Tan.
