At the conclusion of an inquiry here yesterday into the running of BABY FACE, who finished sixth in a Class 4, Div 2 - 1200m sprint on July 6, jockey Anandan Subramanian was disqualified two years and fined a sum of S$50,000. After taking evidence from Jockey S Anandan and Trainer HW Tan, the trainer of BABY FACE, Jockey Anandan was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing. The particulars of the charge are: 1. in that from near the 700m to approaching the 500m, he failed to maintain or improve his position when racing behind BLACK JACK (J Powell) when it was reasonable and permissible to do so, thereby near the 500m, allowing RAVOUX (A Munro), which was racing to his inside, to improve off the fence and place him a position further back than necessary; 2. in that from the 500m to the 100m, he failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the nature of the charge and his record. Anandan was disqualified for a period of two years with immediate effect yesterday to Sept 18, 2014, both dates inclusive and in addition, he was fined a sum of S$50,000. He was advised of his right of appeal. Yesterday, Anandan exercised his right of appeal against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards and the penalty imposed on him. He subsequently applied for a stay of sentence. After hearing and considering submissions from Anandan yesterday, his application for a stay of sentence was denied by the Stipendiary Stewards. |
