Vastly-improved BEAGLE
(Appealing Skier - Gambler's Faith by Prospectors Gamble), who has already
landed three wins in Class 3 this season including a double last July,
registered his biggest win yet when he captured the RM125,000 Mauritius Turf
Club Bicentenary Year Trophy here today.
The combined Classes 1 & 2
race over 1400m was held in honour of the Mauritius Turf Club and the
American horse proved a shade too good for his rivals this time after
failing to account for a similar race last time out at Sungei Besi.
Eirwan Khalid, who steered
BEAGLE to his double last July, was back in the saddle and the leading
jockey proved to the difference again this time.
BEAGLE has been on a roll,
winning three of four starts since changing his name from TRUMP PLAYER last
June. In all, he has won seven of 29 starts since arriving in the country
unraced and cost just US$12,000 as a two year old.
