BELIEVE ME resumed racing
after a five-month layoff to create a big upset in a Class 4 - 1200m sprint
at Sungei Besi here today.
The New Zealand gelding
managed just one win in 20 starts previously. His first outing under his new
trainer Wee Meng Hua was a disastrous one, finishing dead last last October.
But the five months on the
sidelines did BELIEVE ME (Keeper - Our Barbarella by Rhythm) a world of good
as he came from midfield to win drawing away by one length, continuing a
good run of form for apprentice Yap Kin Yin. The winner paid RM270 for a
win.
Yap and Wee also combined
to take the opening event on PACIFIC GIFT (Untouchable - Samoa by Hula
Chief) who ended a series of dismal runs to register his third win in 31
starts.
