BINGO storms home on the outside to score a shock win

After three unplaced runs on the polytrack, BINGO finally came good in his first start on the turf when he scored a narrow win in the Restricted Maiden - 1200m sprint at Kranji here tonight.

In so doing, the Argentinean gelding created a big upset to pay $200 on the win tote.

BINGO (Footstepsinthesand - La Entrometida by Fadeyev) actually started a firm favourite in his maiden outing last year but proved a handful for his rider. He was no better in his subsequent two starts and it wasn't a surprise punters gave him the cold shoulder tonight.

But with champion apprentice Shafiq Rizuan in the saddle, the four-year-old was able to come from last early to run down his rivals to win by a short head.
