Expensive import RONNIE BROWN (Darci Brahma - Leigh Valley by Bianconi) lived up to his billing when he romped to a runaway win in the Restricted Maiden - 1000m event on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight.

Purchased by trainer Michael Freedman for NZ$170,000 as a yearling and raced in partnership with a group of first-time owners, the New Zealand three-year-old started odds-on and never gave his backers any anxious moment.

Settling in second place by jockey Stephen Baster, RONNIE BROWN cleared away from his rivals with ease to win by four and a half lengths.
