Bukhari a winner again after 13 years

After nearly 13 years away from competitive riding, apprentice Bukhari Abdul Hamid has returned to the saddle a winner after such a long absence.

In only his fourth ride since making his comeback earlier this month, Bukhari partnered FLASH GORDON (Catbird - Kayzarana by Generous) to victory in the Class 5 - 1800m handicap here today.

Bukhari was indentured to now-retired trainer Mohd Ismail in 1999 when he rode two winners I CAN FLY (Skiendhu - Astonish by Aurealis) and MR BULAN (Blue Razor - The Agent by Diplomatic Agent) for his master.

It was last month that he regained his "B" grade apprentice jockey licence and is now indentured to Malcolm Thwaites.

Ipoh trainers again had a superb afternoon when they made a clean sweep of the nine races, repeating the feat last Saturday when they captured all the eight races contested.

The shock of the day was when BING IS BEST (Commands - Peau De Soie), who won in Class 5 two starts back, chalked up his sixth win in 47 starts and paid RM340 for a win.
