Noel Callow, always the
punters' favourite on both sides of the causeway, has taken the first day
lead in the Selangor Turf Club international jockeys championship for 2012
after registering one win and one second at Sungei Besi here today.

Jackson Low struck the first blow in the first of three championship races
today, winning the RM100,000 Macau Jockey Club Goodwill Cup on JERAM DELIGHT
(Iglesia - Lizbeth by Royal Academy). Callow was only a head behind on
INCOGNITO.
Callow then partnered RYAN
JAMES (Thorn Park - Mighty Myrtle by O'Reilly) to victory in the RM100,000
Kenilworth Cup, picking up a total of 19 points.
In the five-race series, 12
points are awarded the winner, with the second, third and fourth-placed
jockey earning seven points, four points and one point respectively.
Mark Gallagher ended the
day second in the championship after winning the third event on BIG RED (Red
Ransom - Farasha by Juene), adding to his third place finish in the Macau
Jockey Club Goodwill Cup.
Two more championship races
will be staged tomorrow with the winner picking up prizes worth a total of
RM20,000 and a trophy. The runner-up will earn RM5,000 cash and a trophy
while the third placed jockey will pick up RM3,000 cash and a trophy.
