Noel Callow returned to
riding in Malaysia in style at Sungei Besi here today when he booted home a
double including the feature race, the RM125,000 "Carlsberg Gold" Cup second
leg over 1400m.
Callow, a former champion
jockey in Singapore who also has a huge following this side of the causeway,
started off with a 'bang', winning his first ride on TOBIAS (Germano -
Vienna Belle by Crested Wave).
Callow then made it two
from two when he renewed partnership with LIM'S FIGHTER (Flying Spur - Sky
Watch by Star Watch) to win the main race, a combined Classes 1 & 2 event.
The 10-year-old showed that
there is plenty of fire left in him when he came from a long way back to win
drawing away by two lengths.
Callow rode LIM'S FIGHTER
to one his 11 wins in Singapore. That success coming in 2007 when Callow won
the Singapore title with then record 107 wins.
Since moving to Malaysia
early last year, the Australian gelding has picked up two more wins.
Johnny Lim, who trains
LIM'S FIGHTER, ended the day with four winners on home ground. |
