CHASE ME popped the
question but his rivals had no answer as the four-year-old cruised to his
best win yet in the Open Handicap over 1800m at Kranji here today.
The New Zealand gelding won
four times, thrice in Class 4, from 17 starts in the lower classes. This
season, CHASE ME (Storm Creek - Cartier Gold by Gold Brose) has been placed
in all his three outings over the mile in Class 3.
Although stepping up in
class and tested beyond the mile for the first time today, CHASE ME took
advantage of a big drop in the handicap to win by one and a quarter lengths.
"He’s
beaten quite a smart field today and I hope to get him in the Derby in
July," said trainer Desmond Koh of his fast-improving charge.
For Koh Teck Huat, today's win was only the second in 2012 for the
apprentice who finished second in the apprentice table last year. It
however marked a milestone for him as it was his 40th success in the saddle.
