Jose De Souza, who provided
the shock of the season thus far when he scored on TARAMIS who paid RM1,996
yesterday, booted home an early double today to take over the lead in the
jockey's table.
The Brazilian started the
afternoon on a winning note with an easy victory astride GLORY BETTING (One
Cool Cat - Hairini by Zabeel) who return to form after 14 months to record
her second win in 26 starts.
De Souza had to work harder
in the next race when he got MIYAGISAN (Captain Rio - The Heroine by
Herocity) home by a neck to give leading trainer Luke Danis his 10th win of
the season.
This is De Souza's third
season riding in the local circuit. He finished 10th in the table with 22
winners and improved to fourth last year with 33 winners. And after just two
months this season, he has already chalked up 11 wins.
