Shamacam wins 1st leg of 4YO Challenge

For the first time in the history of racing in the MRA circuit, we could have two Brazilian champions in the same season.

Joao Moreira is assured of his third consecutive title in Singapore even with 15 more meetings still to run at Kranji.

In Malaysia, Jose De Souza is staging a late charge to unseat the leading jockey Eirwan Khalid.

Going into today's meeting at Sunges Besi, De Souza trailed Eirwan by nine winners but closed the gap to six with a superb treble that included the feature event, the RM150,000 Malaysia 4YO Challenge 1st leg over over 1200m astride SHAMACAM (Shamardal - Dynacam by Dynaformer).

Earlier, De Souza had continued his good recent form winning on VIGOUR (Elvstroem - Fashion Society by Scenic) and LANCER MAN (Ecton Park - Miss Hathaway by Lost Code).

It was the second consecutive afternoon that De Souza managed a treble while at the same time Eirwan failed to land a winner. The momentum is definitely with De Souza.
